Centennial EKU Biennial Faculty Show

Opening on 8/29 with a reception from 7:00 '9:00. On exhibit will be the recent work of the studio faculty of Eastern Kentucky's Department of Art & Design.

Deborah Orloff Photography /Jennifer Costa Furniture

The recipient of dozens of grants and awards Ms Orloff is Director of the Photography Program at the University of Toledo. Her work is held in numerous collections in North America and Europe, including the Whitney Museum of Art and the Royal Scottish Academy Galleries in Edinburgh, Scotland. Jennifer Costa, Assistant Professor of Art and Gallery Curator at Illinois Central College in East Peoria, Illinois, is a furniture maker and sculptor. Working in a variety of processes including woodworking carving and metalsmithing, she explores the complex relationship between craft and art: form and function.

Dana Saulner Paintings + Drawings,
Bonnie Seemen Ceramics & Helen Otterson Mixed Media

Ms. Seeman, a lecturer in the Department of Art and Art History at the University of Miami in Coral Gables, Florida, creates functional vessels based upon forms derived from natures. She uses plants, sea-creatures and human anatomy to explore themes dealing with life, the will to live and the will to live. Her work is found in major collections throughout the country and has been featured in many books and periodicals. Ms Otterson is also a lecturer in the Department of Art and Art History at the University of Miami in Florida. Her mixed media pieces also explore themes of live and survival. However she juxtaposes geometric shapes and organic forms as a metaphor for the relationship between the body's structured form and the chaos of disease. Her work has been exhibited widely throughout the southeast and the nation.

Mr. Saulnier, an Associate Professor of Painting and Drawing at Miami University in Oxford Ohio, has exhibited his painting widely throughout the region and the nation. His large oil paintings explore nature and metaphor, the sensuality of paint, and the bodily experience of space.

Bachelor of Fine Arts Exhibition

Opening reception, December from 2:00 - 4:00 P.M. Graduating BFA students in the Department of Art and Design will exhibit works in a variety of media.

January 23 - February 9
Darryl Halbrooks Retrospective

Opening reception January 23 from 7:00 - 9:00 p.m. Professor of Art for many years in the Department of Art & Design at Eastern Kentucky University, Mr. Halbrooks is a prolific and inventive artist and a master teacher. This exhibition celebrates his lively career as an artist and teacher, and the contribution he has made to the art and university community. February 13 through March 13

EKU Centennial Exhibition Opening reception February 13 from 7:00 - 9:00 p.m.  This show will chronicle celebrate Eastern Kentucky University's first hundred years through the exhibition of art and artifacts from all over the campus.

21st Annual Bluegrass Regional High School Show

Opening reception, March 26 from 2:00 -4:00 P.M. Artwork by. the region's most creative young artists from grades 9-12. will be on display Participating schools include Anderson, Bell, Bourbon, Boyle, Casey, Clark, Clay, Clinton, Estill, Fayette, Franklin, Garrad, Jackson, Jessamine, Knox, Laurel, Lee, Lincoln, Madison, McCreary, Mercer, Owsley, Powell, Pulaski, Rockcastle, Russell, Scott, Wayne, Whitley, and Woodford A wide range of media from ceramics, drawing, painting, photography, printmaking, jewelry, and sculpture will be featured.

Art Student Association Juried Exhibition

Opening reception, April 16 from 2:00 - 4:00 P.M. This annual juried show will display the best work of by students enrolled in the Department of Art & Design at EKU. All media will be featured.
