Artist Statement

My work is based on Cross Cultural design: Integration of African and Western Visual Vocabulary. My personal style comes from the influence of my Ghanaian and Western cultural experiences. As a designer and an artist, my aim is to find the simple truth in myself that is my personal experience from Ghana and the United States and the people around me.
The passions behind my work push me beyond the point of satisfaction. I believe that it is necessary for a designer to have a personal style in order to express her/ his personal point of view. These two cultures influence my visual statements. Producing a work of art can provide different meaning and feelings in our daily lives. This meaning and feeling is what I want the viewer to experience in my work. I want my work to be observed through matters such as invention, metaphor and memory. "Art is not what you see, but what you make others see." Edgar Degas.
